FOR ESTABLISHED BUSINESS OWNERS

Find the bottleneck holding your business back

When every decision comes back to you, working harder can keep the business moving without making it easier to run. Start by identifying one constraint: unclear priorities, inconsistent demand, delivery problems, gaps in ownership, or too much dependence on your time.

You do not need another ambitious list. You need a practical next step you can implement and review.

Start with your business snapshot

The Business Breakthrough Fit & Focus Assessment takes about 5–7 minutes. It provides a six-area snapshot and is also your application for two weeks of free business coaching.

It is designed for established Canadian business owners, including solo operators and businesses with a team. Joel reviews applications personally. Completing the assessment does not guarantee acceptance, and there is no instant booking.

If selected, you receive two 60-minute sessions, practical implementation support, and a 90-day action plan. Early-stage owners may be directed to ProfitCLUB or other resources instead.

Where is the work getting stuck?

  • Direction: Which priority should win when opportunities compete?
  • Demand: Where do enquiries stop turning into customers?
  • Delivery: Which recurring problems create rework or late handovers?
  • Team: Who owns each outcome, and what can they decide without you?
  • Owner freedom: What would stop if you stepped away for two weeks?
  • Implementation: What time and support can you protect to make a change?

Your answers are a starting point for discussion, not an independent business valuation or a guarantee of future performance.

Turn a concern into a small, measurable experiment

Illustrative example—not a client result: an owner is interrupted repeatedly to approve routine customer quotes. Before buying new software or hiring, the owner records the interruptions for one week.

  1. Assess: Count quote approvals, turnaround time, and the reasons each quote needs escalation.
  2. Align: Agree which quotes a team member can approve, the boundaries they must follow, and when to involve the owner.
  3. Review: After two weeks, compare turnaround time and owner interruptions, while checking for pricing mistakes or customer problems.

The test may reveal that clearer decision rights help—or that pricing information is the real constraint. Either way, the next decision rests on observed work rather than a promise that the business will suddenly run itself.

What working with Joel involves

Coaching provides structured conversation, challenge, planning, and accountability. You remain responsible for business decisions and implementation. The focus is to clarify what matters, choose practical actions, and review what happens.

Before any ongoing engagement, discuss the goals, format, frequency, fees, confidentiality, and between-session support. These should be agreed for your circumstances, not assumed from a general website description.

Prefer to explore on your own first?

You can download the free business checklist (PDF) and note one issue you would like to discuss. For a practical way to track progress, see the business scorecard guide.

If you would rather ask a question before applying, book a free 15-minute introductory call. This is a short fit conversation, not a promise to complete an audit or build a full growth plan in one call.
